Myanmar's new trademark law will be officially implemented on April 26 (Grand Opening). The New Trademark Law follows the "First-to-file principle" as the legal basis for trademark application, examination and registration.
Before the official implementation, the trademark application in Myanmar is still in the second stage of trial operation.
According to the latest notification from the Myanmar Intellectual Property Department (IPD), the official fee payment and notarized submission of the power of attorney for re-declaration of trademarks during the transition period will end on May 31, 2023. However, there is currently no definite information on whether trademarks that pay fees and submit power of attorney for notarization after April 26 will enjoy a unified filing date (that is, April 26, 2023). However, Jin Rui suggested that the applicant should pay the fee and submit the notarized power of attorney as soon as possible before April 25, 2023 to be safe.
